  1. I love these inspirational quotes and stories. So many reminders of hard times getting better and the true joys of life.

    • Thank you, Kasinda! Sometimes it takes losing what we thought was important for us to realize what truly is important.

  2. 🙌🏾We must try hard to remember that during the difficult times…Our God is
“God of the Hills and Valleys”.
God does truly have a master plan. And Through it all He will never forsake or leave us.
Let us Trust in Him with all our heart and lean not to our own understanding…God is working everything out….Carry on!

    • No matter how hard the journey is, as long as we both acknowledge that things are hard and yet still have faith that things will turn out alright in the end, we can keep moving forward with small steps. Even if it doesn’t feel like we’re moving at the time. But we are moving. And growing. And learning.

  3. I love everything about this! Jana, I am a much better person by just knowing you and you are one of the most capable people I know.

    • Thank you, Nicole! I was hesitant to share my story at first, but I’m glad I did. Especially if I can help other people by sharing my journey.

  4. Thank you for sharing your story Jana! You are absolutely right, your future is full of power and potential.

  5. You are resilient. I am so glad that you kept trying through all the seasons of your life. There is still more in you and you will keep climbing for you and your family!♥️

    • Thank you, Eva. People used to say I was resilient, and I used to downplay my experiences by either not speaking up or by saying, “I just did what I had to do. A little bit at a time. There was no other alternative.”

Now I’m owning it, and am purposely channeling my motivation & aspirations for positive things. I want to help both my family & others who are going through unexpected seasons in their lives, and lift them up. “Lifting as we climb.”

    • Thank you, Eve! It took me many years before felt confident enough to share my story. I’m glad I shared!

  6. Just beautiful. What a wonderful intro to the Mahogany community. I can’t remember signing up, but I’m so glad I did. To be honest I was bummed at first. A writer myself, I went straight to the submissions page, but saw that none are being accepted at this time. But God IS faithful. There is a time to plant and a time to harvest. Perhaps this is my time to just sit still and learn from the experiences of others. I’m so glad you found love not just in the romantic sense, but for yourself and for life. Thank you for sharing your story. Continued blessings to you and your family.

    • Thank you for your kind words, Celeste! And, you’ve hit the nail on the head and identified the biggest hurdle that many of us face – finding love for ourselves and for life. Inner confidence and strength and faith that We Are Enough, even if we’re working on ourselves.
Blessings to you (& fam) as well. Keep writing!
