Tell it, Girl…
Everybody’s got a story, and we want to hear yours! Whether it’s a cause for celebration or a time of trial, your special moment, or your constant motivation—we’re here to have your back and to bear witness. If you’re new to the community (welcome!), take a look at our About Page to get a feel for how we do.
Submission Calendar
We’ll have an open call for submissions four times each year. When the form is open, it can be found at the bottom of this page. If your submission is accepted for publication on the blog, you will receive an email after submissions are closed. While we aim to respond to submissions 2-3 weeks after our form closes each quarter, if you do not hear from us within that time, you can assume we will be unable to use your submission. However, you are welcome to submit the same piece of writing more than once (we recommend revising if it was not initially accepted).
Please submit your article to us only during one of the following periods:
- December 1-15: to be featured January-March
- March 1-15: to be featured April-June
- June 1-15: to be featured July-September
- September 1-15: to be featured October-December
Submission Guidelines
- Your submission should be 600-900 words.
- Your submission should be a first-person story with a lesson — something that happened to you and what you learned from it.
- Your submission should be original writing that has not been published anyplace else (not even your personal blog or social platforms).
- Your submission should be submitted in the form of a Word document that includes your name and the title (ex. Monique Nicole_A Lesson Learned.docx).
- You may submit to back-to-back open calls.
- Submissions that are not published are still your writing. Feel free to publish your story elsewhere or submit a revised copy to us at a later open call for submissions.
Promotion Guidelines
While we’re all about celebrating and supporting authors and their writing journeys, please know we do not accept book excerpts or articles that are promotional in any way.
- Promotional articles will not be considered.
- Please do not have someone send submissions on your behalf. This includes clients, ministries, agents, publicists, publishers, and the like.

Submission Process
- Complete our submission form below.
- Please submit your article, as a Word document attachment and in accordance with our guidelines, by uploading it to the linked folder via our submission form. Please be sure to name your Word document as follows: Full Name – Working Title. Please also include your full name and working title inside the Word document (at the top of the page). This makes it possible for us to locate and review your submission.
- Due to the number of submissions we receive, we are not able to respond to every submission immediately upon receipt.
- While we aim to respond to submissions 2-3 weeks after our form closes each quarter, if you do not hear from us within that time, you can assume we will be unable to use your submission.
The submission form is now closed. Our next call for submissions opens September 1, 2025.
