  1. Hallelujah what a beautiful prayer in itself! I am going to save it to read to my grandchildren. I once told my oldest grandson to say JESUS when the monster under his bed frightened him. He did that and later told me Jesus actually came and protected him (but that’s another story). I had gotten that word of protection from my own grandmother when stuff frightened me in the dark; when I could get the word out it worked. However, I like your vibrant story even better. I aspire to be that Grandmother (YaYa) who prays like your Aunt!

  2. I used to have reoccurring nightmares every night where I was either covered in spiders & centipedes or that the devil himself saw trying to kill me. This started when I was in the 1st or 2nd grade & continued until I was in my mid 30’s. Long story short, I spoke to my pastor about it & he told me to read Psalms 91 the whole chapter out loud every night before I went to sleep. I read Psalms every night like he said & I slept peacefully for the first time since I was 7. There were a few nights when I fell asleep without reading Psalms 91 & the dreams came back until I read it again. That was 25 years ago & I haven’t had a nightmare since. God freed me from satin’s grasp & gave me the power to not only protect me but my Psalm 91 prayers protected my 5 year old son as well.

    • You are so right Psalm 91 is everything. Our Bishop had us memorize and say this every Sunday. I love it, she said it was the Prayer of Protection, and it is.

  3. I love the symbolism of the dark “monsters” and the dark reality of real life. May it be a reminder that we are not alone but protected by a God who loves us.
