  1. If this isn’t my story, then I must’ve lost my mind. My great-grandmother was exactly like the woman described in this article. Reading it moved me to tears.

Honestly, it just confirms what I’ve always felt — she’s still watching over me from heaven, whispering my name in her prayers.

  2. Thank you for sharing your personal experience with a Christ loving and believing, “PRAYING GRANDMOTHER AND GRANDFATHER.”
    What a blessing.
I always tell my family that we must always pray, to our Almighty Father
    Who is everlasting to everlasting.
Which makes our prayers to an omnipresent omnipotent omniscient
    GOD, Creator of All eternal.

    Keep up the great writing

  3. This was such a touching story!! I can relate to every emotion and word about your grandmother,
I too am a product of my grandmother’s prayers.
Growing up sometimes I would call her and ask her to pray for me and she would say Tracey what’s wrong and of course I didn’t want to tell her I broke up with my boyfriend knowing what she would say.. but she still prayed for me.
I recently discovered a vhs tape from church that had my grandmother praying during one of the devotional services…so you could only imagine what it did to me to watch a video of my grandmother praying from over two decades ago, she was in her element!!
I was raised by my grandparents, so reading the impact that your grandmother made on your life brought me to tears, because my grandmother did the same for me and I’m so grateful!!
I know that she is still covering me through her heavenly prayers and spirit.
Thank you so much for sharing precious memories of your grandmother!!!

  4. Shakia, thank you for sharing these words and your wisdom with the Mahogany community. Your story is a blessing and it resonates deeply. So many of us have been touched (and are still touched) by the prayers of our grandmothers, myself included.

  5. My grandmother was amazing she was my angel, I called her Mama because she raised me, and I know she prayed for me, like it was said by the above writer, I could feel her prayers all over me and my mother.
